A chance meeting that could scandalise the ton19th century England Harriet is running for her life chased by three men on horseback through Hyde Park Knocked unconscious everything goes blackPhilip Baron Eaglestone has never seen such a beautiful damsel in. When I reuested this book I didn t know it was the second installment in a time travel series As someone who is bad at suspending disbelief I thought I might dislike this regency romance for the pure fantasy element of time travel once I figured out that s what was going on I found that I liked that element of the story for uite awhile I thought it was fresh well placed and interesting until the author decided to lay out how the time travel worked I had a really hard time believing that if we just use our minds and wish ourselves to another time we ll suddenly be there That s where the time travel plot turned into unpolished writing for me It wasn t fleshed out very well and seemed very elementary A regency romance that had plenty of heat as well as mystery one that intrigued me suddenly had me wishing for the end I was also slightly annoyed that the author couldn t tell the difference between peek and peak as it was used incorrectly throughout the book Just a pet peeve of mineI wish I could give it a higher rating and maybe I would if this is the type of story I typically read That said I still think the immaturity of the time travel section would have bothered me

Originally posted on Paris Baker s Book NookThanks go to the publisher for this review copy and to Leah for organising the blog tour This is the second book in the Time Travel to Regency England series but reads perfectly well as a stand aloneFirstly I want to point out that I really did enjoy this book It was an easy read with a fun story line and likable charactersThe reason that this only gets a 35 is that certain things lacked a little believably No I m not talking about the time travelling that s fine I think what got me most was that Harriet woke up in a place she didn t know around people she d never met with no recollection of who she was apart from her first name with unknown men trying to kill her and didn t seem all that bothered The further we got into the story the she wanted to know but generally I find it hard to believe that she didn t seriously need to know from the second you wake up with your memory wiped Just me Maybe But while there were the odd comment thrown in that she wished she remembered I didn t actually get that from the character her thoughts or her actions For me that just took away a lot of the depth of the story I couldn t get my head around itHowever as I said before it really is a fun read and I will still be looking to read the previous Time Travel to Regency England installment Debutantes Don t Date I really enjoyed watching the relationship between Harriet and Philip develop and it left you with the warm suishy feeling I love chick lit for Perhaps others are a little less pedantic than I am and won t be bothered by what I said above so that s just meIf you love chick lit especially if it s with a twist then I definitely recommend this for a uick and easy read355Summary ì eBook, PDF or Kindle ePUB ´ Kristina OGrady

Note I received this review copy of this book for free in return for an honest review during a blog tour The opinions and thoughts I share in this review are my ownI have been a massive fan of regency romances since my introduction to Mills Boon books many years ago Since then I haven t really picked any up but since reading Damsel In Distress I m once again raring to pick them up again along with all the Jane Austen s Bronte s and so forth Damsel In Distress however brings something rather different to the table time travel Somehow the main female character has travelled back in time from the present day to England in the regency era Whether there was also some country to country travel too I couldn t uite work out though I do suspect so I loved the idea of time travel though it opens up so many possibilities and answers the fantasies of many historical romance fans How the time travel element is explained though was a littleunbelievable though so I kind of skipped over that I had no trouble imagining the scenes of horse chases balls and carriage rides thanks to lashings of Pride and Prejudice marathons in my youth and the wonderfully descriptive text of the authorI found the characters of Harriet and Philip to be fun exciting likeable and well matched It was definitely a romance story with some mystery and action thrown in for good measure After Harriet is knocked unconscious she doesn t remember anything apart from her name so the majority of the story concerns her trying to find out who she is why she is being chased and of course falling in love with Philip Philip a Baron and rather rakish character is uick to fall for the mysterious and amnesiac beautiful woman he rescues in Hyde Park Of course scandal is ripe in this age and rumours are soon flying about the ton fashionable society There were a few intimate scenes between Philip and Harriet but these although steamy were descriptive enough to get the gist but didn t overly go into detail As for the other characters in the story they all have their own individualistic characteristics which separate one from another from the butler to the Duchess and the maid to Philip s sister each person has their own way about them and you can tell how much the author has really put into this storyThe story flowed at a good pace with relatively short chapters please don t be put off when you see 38 chapters listed The book when put down was easy to pick back up again if you needed to or could only read for a short time Personally my attention was caught in the first couple of pages and I read the book in a single evening I haven t yet read book one of the Time Travel to Regency England series but as it appears the stories can be read individually it will be easy to go back to the start This book does contain the major characters from book 1 though as minor characters in this story Overall it was a very enjoyable read and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for in this series and by this author in the futureThank you to Carina UK for giving me the opportunity to review this fantastic book
